  • Connie Golsteijn, a student I supervised during her Industrial Design Master graduation project, is nominated for the Gerrit van der Veer prijs 2011, based on her Master graduation project Elevating Family Communication.

  • Martijn ten Bhomer, a student I supervised during his Industrial Design Master graduation project, is nominated on behalf of the department of Industrial Design, for the Eindhoven University of Technology's Final Project Award 2011 based on his Master graduation project Bridging cultural distance: Designing guidelines to enable culturally sensitive communication.

  • Saskia Bakker, a student I supervised during her Industrial Design Master graduation project, won the Gerrit van der Veer prijs 2009, awarded to the author of the best Interaction Design thesis of the Netherlands (12 Nov 2009). Currently I am Saskia's PhD-supervisor.

  • Saskia Bakker is nominated on behalf of the department of Industrial Design, for the Eindhoven University of Technology's Final Project Award 2010 based on her Master graduation project Move | Learn | Explore.

  • Together with prof. David Frohlich of DWRC, University of Surrey, we received a £60,000 Microsoft Research PhD Scholarship for one 3-year PhD-student starting October 2010.

  • Received a 1,2 million euro grant from the Kenniswerkersregeling together with Kars-Michiel Lenssen of Philips Research. Our project, C3, will run from July 2009 until December 2010.

  • UK-Netherlands Partnership Program in Science Grant (PPS890) by the British Council & NWO (€1.820,-) for a 12-day research visit to the Memoir project of prof. Steve Whittaker at Sheffield University in 2008.

  • Received an honorable score (3.1) on my NWO VENI-submission (Tangible interaction for intelligent environments), barely missed the final round.

  • E+convenant grant (€30.000,-) from the municipality of Eindhoven for designing and creating an outdoor play facility for children. Joint effort with Tilde Bekker, Antonio A-Tjak and Lucas Asselbergs.

  • ASML Promotieprijs 2005. My PhD-thesis was nominated on behalf of the faculty of Industrial Design. The work of the 12 nominees was presented in an exhibition.
